Turtle Class have settled well into their new class. They have been very busy engaging in lots of different learning and have enjoyed learning about ‘people who help us’ over the first half of the Autumn Term.
The malleable area has had a variety of different things to explore including spaghetti, shaving foam and rice. Lea has thoroughly enjoyed using the play dough and has made a variety of different things including cakes.
The children have made their class mascot Tommy the turtle feel very welcome when he has come to stay in their home. Tilly, Tommy’s friend has also enjoyed watching all of the children in the maths area.
Our trip to Hayling Island fire station was enjoyed by all of Turtle Class. They were particularly excited about going on the minibus and entertained Mr Martin with their version of The Wheels on the Bus.
Owen has commented how much he enjoys Maths Minutes because he likes counting. This is something that all the children get very excited about and ask straight after lunch when will we start Maths Minutes!
The scarecrows we made for the competition at Staunton Country Park caused great excitement. The children had great fun stuffing the straw inside, painting them and helping to get them dressed!
The home corner has provided great amusement and it has been lovely to see it being used for so many different things from an area to prepare dinner, iron the dressing up clothes along with a doctors surgery and a vets. It has also been used as an area to perform on stage and has featured songs from One Direction and Charlie Puth to name a few.
We have been very proud of all of the children who have spent time in the writing area practising their handwriting. In addition it has been lovely to see a number of children playing cross the river and using their ever expanding phonics knowledge to practise their phonemes and have a go at blending words together.
Well done Turtle Class what a lovely to start to the year we have had!
