6th July – The Year R children have really enjoyed their trip to Longdown farm!

22nd June – The teachers are all busy writing reports! There will be a drop-in session available for you to discuss your child’s report with their class teacher on 10th July.

8th June – Ben from AAA has now worked with all the children in school! If you would like to know more about his breakfast clubs and holiday clubs, please get his contact details from the office.

18th May – The children enjoyed decorating biscuits for the Royal Wedding and wore red, white and blue to celebrate at their party. Thank you to the PTFA.

11th May – Year 1 had a lovely time at Staunton Country Park – they met lots of different animals and enjoyed learning how to look after them.

4th May – Year 2 had a wonderful time visiting Stoke Fruit Farm. They tried the homemade ice cream and milk!

27th April – The building of our new sensory garden has begun! Mr Martin is working hard to build the base…

20th April – The year 1 Billy Trail trip was a success! They had a brilliant time and spotted lots of landmarks across the water, as well as lots of different plants and animals.

28th March – Mrs Ford, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Thewlis are all getting excited for their abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in May! Click here to go to our fundraising page. Well done to our PTFA who have secured £4000 of funding for our sensory garden area. Thank you so much!

9th March – Our school council have decided they would like to raise money for the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity and so we would like to invite you to our Easter Bonnet Parade on Thursday 29th March at 2:30pm. You will be able to see the children wearing the Easter hats they have made and give donations if you wish to. The PTFA will be running a cake sale alongside the event which will be raising money for the school.

19th January – Year 1 have begun practising for their play – we have some budding stars at Mill Rythe Infants! Watch out for play ticket information – coming soon…..

12th January – Year 2 have had a brilliant time with the visiting fire service. They visited all day on Monday and taught the children how to ‘Get out, stay out, call 999’ and how the fire service works. They even let the children try using the hose!

5th January – Welcome back to the start of a new term and the beginning of 2018. We hope you all had a relaxing break.

15th December – The Year R Nativity was a roaring success! Photos will be added to the website soon, thank you to all the parents who attended. Thank you also to the parents who attended the Year 2 Christingle service. As we move into the final week of term, please note that there will be no ‘learning letters’ sent out in the last week. Keep an eye in bookbags for a letter about our ‘paperless’ scheme and a new Mill Rythe Infants Facebook page…

8th December – The Christmas fayre yesterday raised an amazing £1300! The funds raised and the £543 raised by the Scholastic book fair will make a huge difference to the children in the school. Thank you to our amazing PTFA who have worked tirelessly to support Mill Rythe, as well as a big thank you to everyone who attended yesterday.

1st December – A transformation has taken place around school – Father Christmas’s elves have decorated the school and classrooms for the children!  We are continuing to show around prospective parents – please book an appointment at the school office if you would like a tour. Please also see the ‘letters’ page for our Christmas events reminder.

24th November – Year 1 had a walk around King’s Road this week, identifying different kinds of homes, including semi-detached, bungalows and even camper vans! Some of the Year 2 children competed against others in a local ‘Football Skills’ competition and should be very proud of their certificates and hard work. Our youngest children in Year R have been exploring shapes and spotting them around school.

17th November – The pupils have begun to practise carols for our performance at Mengham at 5pm Friday the 1st December. All are invited – see you there.

10th November – AAA coaching have now worked with all the pupils and teachers in the school, helping us develop our gymnastics provision. Spaces for the before school sports clubs are filling up fast as a result!

3rd November – Our open evening was very well attended and we look forward to welcoming the parents and children who looked round into our Mill Rythe family next September. You can find a link to the ‘starting school’ form on our homepage.

20th October – Thank you for a brilliant first half term. The fundraising through Scholastic and the PTFA donation station will make a real difference to the pupils in the school. Our parents evenings are all complete but if you have a query or worry, please pop in.

13th October – Everyone is getting very tired now! The children are still persevering with their learning with some amazing writing by Year 2 following their trip to Portchester Castle on Tuesday. Year 1 have been choosing to play schools and do lots of spelling tests, whereas Year R have been thinking really hard about the sounds they can hear in short words e.g. s-a-t, sat. Thank you for all your support so far this half term. Don’t forget sharing together next Friday at 3pm.

6th October – All the pupils are enjoying their learning, particularly music! Year R have been playing the ukulele and listening to sounds around school, seeing what music they can make with different instruments. Year 1 have been practising nursery rhymes and using drums, cymbals and whistles outside. Year 2’s Listen2me sessions using xylophones with Mrs Mattis are going brilliantly. Watch out for an invite to Year 2’s concert nearer to Christmas.

29th September – The pupils have enjoyed a visit by Harley Davidson bikes this afternoon, asking lots of questions about how the bikes work and how to be safe when on one.

22nd September – The school council winners were announced in assembly yesterday. Check out our School Council page for more information. There are still spaces available at our morning breakfast clubs run by AAA coaching. Please contact the office for more information.

15th September – The children are voting for their school council representatives today. The winners will be announced next week. Thank you for all your support, the pupils have all transitioned into school very well this year.

6th September – Welcome back to the start of a new school year! Don’t forget about open classrooms during the first week back.
